Nortel Application Switches are designed from the ground up for load balancing and application acceleration, providing enterprises with unprecedented control over applications and the networks on which they run. Nortel offers five models that meet customer network size and needs in terms of performance, port density & type, and security acceleration. Nortel Application Switches also provide comprehensive resiliency support for voice, data and video in the event of link, node and site failures, by using true active/active failover.

Nortel WAN Optimization products improve virtually any application response time by as much as 50 times over WAN – resulting in increased user satisfaction and productivity. WAN optimization is achieved through reduction in bandwidth requirements and server utilization, patented advanced compression, transport optimization, delta caching, TCP protocol optimization and SSL acceleration; delivering significant cost savings. Nortel’s WAN Optimization portfolio is comprised of Application Accelerators 510 and 610, the Mobile Client Accelerator, and the Optical Metro 5130.

Nortel offers a comprehensive WAN optimization solution for mobile and remote users , web acceleration and SSL offload , and secure and optimized SAN/LAN/NAS extension between data centers.

Application Switches

Nortel Application Switches enable application optimization, delivery, and high availability through the use of sophisticated application/device load balancing, intelligent traffic management, application-layer security, security acceleration, and bandwidth management.

Nortel Application Switches integrate routing and switching by forwarding traffic at layer 2 speed using layer 4-7 information. They are designed from the ground up to optimize networks for application performance. Built around the Nortel’s patented, distributed processing Virtual Matrix Architecture, these switches provide uncompromising performance and value. Mobile Client Accelerator (MCA) is a Client-based WAN optimization product used to accelerate the delivery of most data applications over the Internet and across WANs.
